Samoa to welcome 2022 with Fireworks Spectacular
Samoa will welcome 2022 in style with the signature New Year Fireworks Display set to go off at the strike of midnight from Mt Vaea overlooking the Apia Central Business District and Harbour.
Samoa is among the first countries in the world that will welcome the New Year and the Fireworks Display is an initiative by Government through the Samoa Tourism Authority, which has become a key part of festivities to celebrate the New Year.
STA CEO Fa’amatuainu Sala Lenata’i Suifua said the event is one which the community looks forward to with great excitement every year, and with the adverse impacts of Covid-19, the fantastic display planned should bring joy and help uplift spirits.
The Organising Committee for the Event, has over the past few weeks collaborated to ensure the show is both safe and spectacular.
Pyrotechnic specialists from New Zealand have been engaged to help plan, set-up and deliver the show in compliance with all applicable requirements.
Faamatuainu expressed his sincere appreciation for the support of the Ministry of Police and Prisons, Fire and Emergency Services, Samoa Water Authority, Electric Power Corporation, Land Transport Authority and the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Prior to the fireworks display, there will be Live Entertainment from 7:00pm at the Event Space in front of the FMFMII Government Building at the Apia Waterfront. This is an open event which the community is invited to enjoy. Following this at about 11:35pm will be the Prime Minister’s New Year Address which will be televised nationally, and then the fireworks display at 12:00am.
The New Year celebrations will continue on the evening of 1st January with the Black & White Party at Taumeasina Island Resort which will also have a fireworks display.
