UNWTO Tourism Management Scholarships for Samoa

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has granted fifty (50) scholarships at the UNWTO IE University Tourism Online Academy to Samoa. 

The assistance is part of the UNWTO’s support programme in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, to assist member countries with recovery efforts. 

The programme is firmly aligned with the World Tourism Organisation’s conviction that a key pillar to recover tourism will be through workforce training and education.

The scholarships will enable recipients to complete the "Get certified: Introduction to Tourism - Industry Management" online course. 

Through the course, professionals will be able to acquire and enhance skills in Business Strategy, Introduction to Financial Accounting as a Business Language, Introduction to Digital Marketing, Introduction to Operations Management, and Introduction to Digital Transformation and Innovation.  

At the completion of the course modules and final examination, participants will be granted a certificate from the Tourism Online Academy at the UNWTO IE University.

STA CEO Fa’amatuainu Lenata’i Suifua thanked the UNWTO for its assistance and added that scholarships will be offered to the private and public sectors as well as academia.

Faamatuainu acknowledged that the valuable opportunity complements Samoa’s travel-ready preparations through capacity building in key business management and operations.
