Efforts to protect the community from Covid-19 will switch into high-gear after Cabinet declared a country-wide Mass Vaccination Campaign will roll-out on 23-24 September.

As of 16th September, 81.4% of the eligible population had received the first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine and 41.2% had been fully vaccinated.

The Disaster Advisory Committee (DAC) is coordinating arrangements for the Mass Vaccination Campaign.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is continuing to urge the community to get vaccinated and has announced that the final day for administering the first dose of the vaccine will be 24 September.

In a related development, doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the New Zealand Government are expected to arrive in October. These will be used to vaccinate 12-18 year olds.
