SIGFA successfully hosts game fishing tournament
The Samoa International Game Fishing Association (SIGFA) successfully hosted its 24th Annual International Game Fishing Tournament last week.
Dubbed as one of the biggest fishing tournaments in the South Pacific in terms of prize money and angler attendance, the tournament normally attracts a large number of participants and supporters from New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific. However due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and borders being closed, this year’s tournament is a local affair.
This year’s competition featured two days of fishing, rather than the usual week-long festivities.
By going ahead with the tournament this year, SIGFA aims to maintain the momentum from previous competitions and be in a strong position to boost interest and once again welcome back overseas anglers when travel restarts.
The 24th Annual Samoa International Game Fishing Tournament was sponsored by Taula, Apia Concrete Products and Samoa Tourism Authority.
