Digital equipment for Tourism Industry Associations for enhanced engagement

Digital equipment was officially handed over to the Samoa Hotels Association (SHA) and Savaii Samoa Tourism Association (SSTA) by H.E. Dr Trevor Matheson, the New Zealand High Commissioner in a ceremony at the Samoa Tourism Authority.

The equipment will support enhanced virtual communications and engagement between the bodies and their key partners and stakeholders.

The assistance is part of Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) between the Associations and the Samoa Tourism Authority signed in February. These were established to assist with improved communications and the review of the Associations’ policy frameworks including corporate plans and constitutions, industry surveys on the impacts of COVID-19 as well as administrative and management support.

A total of SAT$65,000 is allocated to SHA and SAT$75,000 to SSTA to help them achieve their targeted outcomes.

The MoAs are established further through the continued collaboration of the Governments of Samoa and New Zealand through the Samoa Tourism Growth Partnership (STGP) of which the Samoa Tourism Authority is the implementing agency.

“The ongoing partnership with the New Zealand Government has assisted Samoa’s Tourism sector significantly over the years and we are very appreciative of our development partner’s support”’, said STA CEO Faamatuainu Lenata’i Suifua.
